Accomodation - Haus-Sonja Holiday Apartments

Amidst the High Eifel, with a population short of 3.000, an elevation of 1,000 ft (300 m) and in the district of Ahrweiler, lies the town of Adenau. Here, in a quiet location, only a few minutes from the Nürburgring and only about half an hour from the Autobahns A1 or A61/A565, you’ll find our Haus Sonja apartments. You can conveniently park your vehicle on-site behind the house.

Both 430 ft² (40 m²) nonsmoking-apartments offer upscale comfort in two rooms (a living-/diningroom/kitchen and a bedroom) and a bath. In the bedrooms you’ll be resting on suitable king- an queensize beds. The living- and dining rooms are furnished with an adequate and fully equipped kitchen, including a fridge/freezer combination, air circulating baking oven, microwave, electric kitchen stove and of course popular kitchen utensils like coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster etc.

From the living room you have direct access to your own balcony with table and chairs and a view of the majestic Eifel mountains.

Furthermore the apartments provide digital satellite reception on big flat screens and additionally a full-fledged stereo system as well as a blu-ray player with USB jack. Enjoy digital media after your leisure activities and relax on the comfy couch- and armchair combinations. Additionally you can access the Internet with the TVs or by WLAN.

In the bathrooms there are showers available and additionally a washing machine and a dishwasher (who likes to do the dishes when on vacation?), as well as a flat iron and ironing board.

You are welcome to use the exercise room in the basement where professional cardio equipment is provided (WaterRower, Kettler bicycle ergometer and crosstrainer) at no additional cost. Afterwards you loosen up your tired muscles in the in-house sauna (for a small fee).

Just a few minutes on foot from the apartments you’ll find several restaurants, bakeries and stores as well as access to public transportation. The Johanniterstadt (named after the Order of Saint John) Adenau is close to the famous Nürburgring (which is a 13-miles (20 km) racing track) and has its own hospital. Adenau also provides good shopping opportunities and a great selection of nationwide chains for your everyday needs (per request we’ll provide a bread roll delivery service in the morning).

Adenau (which was founded, according to official records, in the year 992), has much going for places of interest. Amongst them are the historical market square with an old fashioned well, the Eifler farmhouse museum, the museum of local history and craft, the Johanniter commandery, the butter market with studwork houses from the 13th century in original condition plus several churches and chapels.

Popular places of excursions from here are (of course) the 1927 opened Nürburgring, the 12th century Nürburg castle itself and the 'Hohe Acht' – which is about 2450 ft (747 m) - the tallest mountain in the Eifel – with the Kaiser-Wilhelm (Emperor Wihelm) tower on top. Scores of bicycle and hiking trails take you to your destinations. By car you can reach the Mittelahr region in 20 minutes and enjoy the romantical Ahr river valley with its vine slopes in the towering Eifel mountains along the numerous nearby scenic winemaker cities. Roam the Rotwein-Wanderweg (Rotwein hiking trail) between Altenahr and Bad-Neuenahr and let the day fade away in one of the many lovely seasonal taverns while tasting some local wine.
